Many students begin college with marketing careers in mind. But Francis Brissette ’26G and John Paul “J.P.” Brissette ’25 were established social media and digital marketing professionals before enrolling at Providence College.

Together, they are Broskies Studios and the creators of TikTok character @Franchismo10, who has 3.4 million verified followers on TikTok, 572,000 on Instagram, and 57,000 on YouTube. @Franchismo10 is Francis sitting on his roof, wrapped in a blanket, and sharing his angst about dating, relationships, school, employment, insomnia, and the state of the world. J.P. is an offscreen voice of reason who, by the end of each video, shouts an exasperated “Francis!”

“The roof man,” as @Franchismo10 is sometimes called, and J.P. have taken their show on the road, making appearances for professional sports teams, including the St. Louis Blues and Texas Rangers, as “TikTok sensations from Rhode Island.” They are under contract with the national Society of Saint Vincent de Paul to promote the society’s charitable work to a younger audience.

“A plane was our home for a year and a half” after the pandemic, Francis said.

Commuting to Providence College from their home in Cranston, Rhode Island, helps the brothers juggle their creative careers and their studies. While on campus, J.P. participates in Campus Ministry and was a Benjamin Family Social Media Fellow helping to market the School of Business. They compete in intramural flag football and basketball and attend Friars men’s basketball games at Amica Mutual Pavilion.

“Growing up in Rhode Island, the Friars were giants — huge names we’d hear all the time. Now, I’m part of this. I have a team that I can root for forever,” said J.P, who transferred to Providence College from the Community College of Rhode Island after earning an associate degree.

“Some people don’t even realize we’re siblings. But it’s great to have a built-in friend,” Francis said.

The brothers decided to study business at Providence College to help them manage the financial aspects of their own business. J.P., a marketing major, enjoys connections with supportive faculty who are mentors even after courses conclude. Some of his favorite classes include Development of Western Civilization, known as Civ, philosophy, and theology.

“I love that I get to do it all,” J.P. said.

For Francis, who has a bachelor’s degree in performing arts from Rhode Island College, the switch to the MBA Program took some adjustment. He says advice from accountancy professor Karl Kern helped him bridge disciplines.

“He told me that accounting is a lot like telling a story, it just has its own language,” Francis said. “I saw then that my theatre and writing background wasn’t an obstacle. It was unique experience with its own advantages.”

The Brissettes have are a resource for others on campus who are building engagement on social media, including College Chaplain Rev. Simon Teller, O.P., whose Catholic-themed Instagram content went viral last year.

“We like to think of him as our first intern,” Francis joked.

Roman Catholics who support local and national ministries with their creativity and digital media expertise, the brothers see themselves not as Catholic content creators, but as Catholics who create content.

“Sometimes people will notice the small statue of Mary in the yard in the background of our videos,” J.P. said. “And we do have a large audience among seminarians.”

“We love doing what we’re doing. We want to make the world better by making people smile and laugh. And we want those smiles to last,” said Francis.
