Nursing

For Aria Kriticos ’27, nursing is about more than clinical skills. It is also about listening. A member of the first class of nursing students at Providence College, Aria is drawn to moments of connection: the first hello, a quiet conversation, and being fully present when someone is at their most vulnerable.

“I want to be the kind of nurse who takes my patients’ thoughts and feelings seriously, advocates for them, and provides them comfort by listening attentively to whatever they choose to share with me,” said Aria, who is in the Honors Program

That same sense of care and responsibility shapes her life beyond the clinical setting. She is very involved in the PC community, serving in leadership and mentorship roles that reflect her commitment to service and support for others.

Aria, from Scituate, Rhode Island, is a new student orientation leader and coordinator, an Admission Ambassador, a member of the Academic Affairs Advisory Council and Leadership Fellows Program, and a tutor for medical microbiology as well as anatomy and physiology courses.

Her coursework and clinical experiences reinforce that technical knowledge and human understanding go hand in hand. As a 2024 Papitto Health Equity Summer Fellow at Rhode Island Hospital’s Center for Primary Care, Aria served as a patient advocate, helping connect individuals with essential resources including food, housing, transportation, and insurance. She also completed clinical rotations at Miriam Hospital and Roger Williams Medical Center during the fall 2025 semester.

Selected as an invited speaker at the dedication of the Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences in January 2025, she shared how meaningful it has been to be a member of the program’s inaugural class.

At PC, Aria said she has found an environment that allows her to grow as a student, a leader, and a future nurse prepared to care for the whole person.
