Monica Womack ’91: Driven to succeed
Monica Womack ’91 didn’t have an appointment with the Nissan recruiters who came to campus senior year. She went anyway, dressed for success, résumé in hand, confidence in her heart. One of the recruiters was Nissan’s president and CEO, PC alum Thomas D. Mignanelli ’66. The result was an invitation to interview with his colleagues in Southern California, which led to a great offer to work for Nissan after graduation.
“Providence College taught me to be open to challenges and opportunities, and to have courage and confidence in what I can bring to the table,” says Womack, who majored in finance at PC. “It made me very well-balanced. I could easily talk and relate to others. I knew how to package myself. So I took a chance, knowing the worst that could happen was that they would say no.”
Today, Womack works in the Dallas area as director of international markets — vehicle planning and pricing for Toyota Motor North America. She leads a team that works closely with Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada to develop product planning and pricing strategies.
In a previous role with Lexus Marketing, another PC alum greeted her on her first day with, “What’s up, Friar?”
“PC teaches you that forming solid relationships and staying in touch with people can lead to wonderful things in your future,” said Womack.
